Kankakee Valley REMC will sponsor 8 students at the annual Camp Kilowatt. The camp will be held June 5-8, 2024<\/strong>, at Camp Tecumseh in Brookston, Indiana.<\/p>\nStudents entering seventh grade in 2024 are eligible to attend and are selected by Kankakee Valley REMC to participate in the four-day program.<\/p>\n
This dynamic three-day camp includes the following activities.<\/p>\n
\n- Electricity generation and transmission education<\/li>\n
- Horseback riding<\/li>\n
- Bucket truck rides<\/li>\n
- Rock climbing<\/li>\n
- Archery<\/li>\n
- Alternative energy education<\/li>\n
- Internet safety<\/li>\n
- Zipline<\/li>\n
- Live line safety demonstration<\/li>\n
- Swimming, and much, much more<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Kankakee Valley REMC pays all expenses for the trip, except for travel to\/from the camp and incidental expenses of the participants while at the camp.<\/p>\n
The Camp Kilowatt program was developed by a committee of electric cooperative employees from Indiana. The camp is funded in part by Indiana\u2019s electric cooperatives, Hoosier Energy, Wabash Valley Power Alliance, Indiana Electric Cooperatives and other industry partners.<\/p>\n
