Mike Yankauskas and his wife, Kate, have been Kankakee Valley REMC members since 1977 and reside near Grovertown. The couple has three married sons and eight grandchildren.
Yankauskas has a bachelor's degree in biological science and agronomy from Purdue University. He is an owner-operator of a farrow-to-finish hog farm and has 20 years of experience as a soil fertility crop nutrition consultant. Yankauskas is active in the community, where he serves as a board member for Community Services of Starke County and the Washington Township Advisory Board. He is also a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Knox.
Yankauskas served on the REMC board from 1990 to 2014 and was re-elected in 2017. He currently serves as president of the board and represents the cooperative on the Indiana Electric Cooperative board of directors.
Yankauskas’s commitment to education is evident through his achievement of Credentialed Cooperative Director, Board Leadership and Director Gold through the National Rural Electric Association.
