When you signed up to receive electric service from Kankakee Valley REMC you became a member/owner of an electric cooperative. As a cooperative, we invest profits into improving infrastructure and maintaining adequate cash reserve to plan for the unexpected. After that, any funds left are returned to our members.
Our power supplier, Wabash Valley Power, is also a cooperative and Kankakee Valley REMC is one of its members. Just like Kankakee Valley REMC returns capital credits to their members, Wabash Valley Power follows the same practice.
When Wabash Valley Power retired capital credits, KV REMC allocated these capital credits from Wabash Valley Power to those who were members of the cooperative in 1996. Approximately 4,000 checks were returned to us as undeliverable. Please click the link below to see if you are owed a check.
If you see your name on the list, please contact our office at 800-552-2622 to provide a current address so that we can reissue a capital credits owed to you.
