Receive a Free Electric Water Heater

The REMC will provide a free electric water heater to members if their existing electric water heater is unrepairable or more than 20 years old.

The REMC will provide a free electric water heater to members replacing a gas water heater or for new construction.

(There is no longer a conversion credit.)

The cost for installation by the REMC is $75.00, payable at the time of installation.

(Members may also arrange their own installation.)

The member must arrange their own installation if extensive plumbing or wiring work is required.

Free service for electric water heaters will remain available through 2005.

Program applies to residential services. Other applications will be approved at the discretion of the REMC.
Suitable plumbing and electrical wiring for the safe operation of the water heater must be in place.
A 30 amp, 220 volt electric circuit must be in place to provide service to the water heater. The wire feeding the water heater must be a #10, with ground.
Adequate space to install, accommodate, and maintain a minimum size standard 52 gallon electric water heater.
