Mike Yankauskas and his wife, Kate, have three children, Brian, Justin, and Aaron. Mike and his family live in the rural Hamlet/Grovertown area and belong to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Knox.

Following graduation from Purdue University, Mike was employed with an agricultural co-op before starting a soil fertility consultant service. He is owner-operator of a farrow-to-finish hog farm and "The Pork Shop," a fresh frozen pork sales and delivery business.

He is a member of the U.S. Third Congressional District Agricultural Advisory Committee. Mike was elected to the REMC Board of Directors in 1990, and currently serves as President. He has also received his NRECA Director Ceritification.
