Budget Billing Available
Electric Bills Throwing You For a Loop??
Whether it's heating in winter or air-conditioning in summer, you can benefit from Kankakee Valley REMC budget billing program.
Budget billing balances your bill payments. The bill will be based on the average consumption for the most recent 12 months usage, and the amount will be the same each month.
The benefit to you will be to prevent extreme fluctuations in your electric bills because of seasonal increases or decreases in power used. You will continue to pay the same rate as all other members.
In Fairness to all members of the cooperative, a fair but strictly controlled procedure will be followed:
- Members with high consumption due to air conditioning loads must be in service for 12 months prior to October 15 to quality for the program. Members with high consumption due to heating loads must be in service for 12 months prior to May 1 to qualify for the program.
- A Member's account will be removed from the budget plan if delinquent twice in a budget year.
- The Budget Amount will be based on the previous 12 months KWH average.
- Budget billing may be adjusted quarterly if a usage change occurs.
- Yearly "Settle-Up-Month" will be in October for air conditioning load Members and May for heating load Members.
- If the REMC's rates increase (or decrease), all budget amounts will be raised (or lowered) by the same percentage.
- A Written contract must be signed with the REMC. The Member receives a copy.
